Dara will begin to provide Employment Supports in 2024. These supports will include both individual and group Job Ready Training. An initial meeting with the Careers Employment Officer will help to decide if group or individual supports work best for each applicant.

The group training will run one day per week in the Hub from January to September and is tailored to building transferable skills for the workplace. From September to December, participants will engage in job sampling and work experience opportunities to get hands on experience in their chosen areas of interest. The Careers and Employment Officer will continue to support each person through all stages of the programme including work experience or commencement of a paid role. Individual support will also be provided to all group applicants when required throughout the
programme.

Our individual training will be provided to those who may have completed a similar programme in the past or are currently are or have been in a paid role. Individual training can also be provided to those who do not work well in group settings. We can provide support to update CV’s, work on interview skills, job searching and applications, and support with getting set up in a new role. Tailored individualised training can be offered in identified areas of development for each individual to give them the confidence and skills they need to progress. All applicants for group and individual training will receive assistance with CV and interview skills, sourcing and completing work experience, completing job applications and receive onsite support in the workplace until they are comfortable and confident to engage in the role independently.

Our goal is to build strategic partnerships with local businesses to access paid employment for adults with an intellectual disability.
